What music do you listen to? What television shows? What radio stations?
I challenge you to a test. This won’t hurt. much.
Change What You Listen to For ONE Day
That’s right. For one entire day. I challenge you to watch/listen to two sermons from iBethel.tv and confine your music to ONLY worship music. Throughout the day, evaluate yourself. Are you less moody than usual? Less critical? More or less irritable?
I spent two months listening to nothing but worship and watching sermons from the right kinds of people (who you listen to is important to, obviously). I’ve never felt more in-tune with God than I was during that period.
I still get in my worship and sermons, but I had to find some balance in other areas as well.
I want you to try it and tell me what happens to you.

I was convicted about a month ago that I was watching too much TV so I challenged myself to do just what you suggest and I listen to either UCB or TWR. I can honestly say I have learned so much more from my quiet times and bible reading than I have done in years. Changing what I hear has changed the way I think. Bible verses now come to mind and I have understood for the first time that the “fear of God” really is “the beginning of wisdom.”
I don’t even know how I came across your blog, but I saw Bill Johnson on the right menu and knew I had to read. What we allow into our lives by our ears and eyes are so very important. It affects our entire lives whether whether people realize it or not. Look at person that listens to secular music all the time compared to someone that listens to praise & worship, and you will see a huge difference in their lives. I’m not saying there’s anything wrong with secular music, although all is definitely not good for you. Great post! Everyone should do this for sure!
